David Alexander Photography

You will probably learn more about me and my photography by looking through the photo albums section of this website. After all, that's why you're here. And what better way to learn about "my" type of photography than by looking at my previous work.

However, here are some of my thoughts written down.   

My name is David Alexander Riehn. Here I am with my wife, Sara. I am based in Lawrence, KS and serve the areas from Topeka to Kansas City and the surrounding areas.

In general, I prefer to use natural light whenever possible whether it be for photographing people, objects or natural beauty. I also enjoy fusing portrait photography with outdoor beauty.

My idea of a portrait session is photographing you and your family, friends, spouse, fiancée, pets, or whoever in as comfortable, natural environment as possible. My goal is to photograph a mixture of posed and candid shots that attempt to capture as much of your personality as possible, though I tend to minimize the "posed" shots. To that end, I am always open to suggestions that help me capture who you are.

I use the digital medium exclusively because it helps me keep costs (and thus prices) down and success rate up. I will shoot MANY pictures, but I typically provide between 20 and 40 proofs . I shoot everything in color because it gives us the option to have every print in either color or black and white. I limit my "post processing" to picture size, and color vs. black and white. On a case by case basis, per request, I can do some other features such as removing unwanted blemishes, objects, etc.
